What qualifications do I need to enter the College as a full time student? |
| |
The minimum qualifications are four passes in the GCE A/Ls. Students are required to send in an essay along with their applications. Selected candidates are invited to sit for the SLCJ entrance examination which comprises of a written examination and an interview. |

When can I apply? |
| |
Advertising for the 2010 intake will begin in November and December. Applications will be called as soon as the GCE A/L results are available. The academic year begins in January. |

Do I have to pay? |
| |
| As the SLCJ receives some funding for the Diploma Course, students are expected to pay around 15% of the total course cost. Fees vary for the print, radio and television courses. Part or full scholarships are available for students who show exceptional ability and can prove economic hardships. |

When are the classes held? Can I attend weekend classes? |
| |
Classes are held Monday to Friday, 9 a.m to 5 p.m. The one year Diploma is a full time course and a minimum 75% attendance is needed to graduate. Free English classes are conducted on Saturdays for those needing to learn the language.

Do you provide hostel facilities ? |

No. You have to find your own accommodation. |

Can you guarantee me a job? |
| |
The SLCJ makes no promises of graduates getting employment. However, because of the close relationship between industry and the school, all students get around 3 months of internship with a media house. Of the batches that have graduated from the SLCJ more than 90% have secured employment within the industry. |

What qualifications do I need to follow a mid-career program? |
| |
Any full time working journalist may apply for the course. Non-journalists are also encouraged to apply but different criteria apply. |

When can I apply? |
| |
The Mid-career training program is announced six months in advance. Applications usually close two weeks before the course begins. Selection of successful candidates is the prerogative of the SLCJ Director. |

What are the course fees? |
| |
The SLCJ charges no fee from working journalists for the Mid-career programs. Non journalist will be charged a fee if selected. |
