Diploma in Journalism (Electronic/Print)

The one-year full time Diploma in Journalism offered by the SLCJ produces industry-ready graduates who are absorbed into the newsrooms of the country and begin careers as either broadcast or print journalists.

Students following the Diploma Course can choose between Print, Television or Radio Journalism. Courses are conducted in Sinhala, Tamil and English. The curriculum for the course is designed in consultation with industry representatives and is supervised by the University of Kalmar in Sweden. All the students intern at media houses in Sri Lanka and are regularly evaluated by senior Newsroom executives drawn from the industry. The curriculum also includes a strong component on ethics in journalism.

Students are provided with computers and are trained in basic software requirements to work in the Industry. Facilities at the college include state of the art equipment and software to design newspapers and produce television and radio bulletins.

Entry Requirement: Minimum 3 A/L passes required.
Course fees -
Print: Rs.30,000
Radio: Rs.40,000
TV: Rs.50,000.
Limited number of scholarships available.
